Almost forgot about this posting I was asked the other day how I copied Suzie's father's slides. It was a fairly easy process using my digital camera, tiny tripod and an old slider view I still have from many years ago. It has come in handy.
Quite a few years ago I copied 450 of my old slides that were deteriorating the same way. It took a while to sort through a few thousand slides, but did narrow it down. I played with this setup and found it worked pretty good so now I have them on disk and my backup drive much easier to find and view them now. No more messing with a slide projector, screen etc.....

I just set up the viewer and my camera like the picture below. Played with a few settings, using close up shots, and no flash. Totally dark room so no light reflection and slide them through one at a time.

Easy setup

This was done without buying any equipment I did not have. Not a slide copier or whatever.
Then on my computer, and in the free Picasa photo editing program that I use. Here I was able to crop, enhance them and make them look pretty good. Considering the slides were in pretty bad shape. Below is an example of one slide that I copied. Looks better than the slide looked.

Now today more puttering around here, make lunches, repair a cabinet door they will use for a TV stand in their new place. Also the keyboard tray for the smaller computer desk that they are taking with them.

Ran a few errands, chopped ice on the front steps (did I tell you how much I hate shovelling snow and chopping ice?) and whip up supper. Tonight a couple thick ham slices for Suzie and her Dad on the Weber Q, glazed with brown sugar, lemon juice and horse radish, very tasty. Also a baked potato for him. For me I grilled a salmon burger and made a salad.
